The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, established in the year 1998, is the second National Law University established in India.
With students admitted from all over the country through CLAT, NALSAR is counted as one of the top National Law Universities in India. It constantly features among the top two National Law Universities in any rankings conducted in the field of legal education. Until 2012, NALSAR was driven by mandatory courses, but post-re-evaluation in June 2012, it moved to a credit-based system, wherein a student is required to earn 200 credit points to earn their degree.
Admission to NALSAR is purely based on merit determined through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a test conducted on rotation by National Law Universities.
